Ocean Above

In wisps they rise swirl curl up mushrooming,  

Canopy over mountains, like snow they are looming.  

Drift in a procession to converge from nowhere,  

Take over the skies with no legroom to spare. 

Rolling out marvellous motifs across the sky, 

Spreading afloat as winds blow by.  

On sunny days cottony, white and cheerful, 

When monsoon comes they turn thick, dark and tearful;  

As thunder strikes with lightning streaks,  

Glissade down in a rush from mountain peaks. 

Showering forests of pines, drenching the earth, 

Leaving all refreshed with glee and mirth. 

Be quick to catch a glimpse, disappear any time soon, 

Putting on airy colours of wind, sun and moon. 

Dawn to dusk they wrap up in many hues, 

Golden, pink, purple, orange, letting light through. 

A sight to behold leaving us enraptured, 

As eyes do a camera, their splendour gets captured. 

Hide so many moods, feelings and emotions, 

Camouflaging to seek in the milky ocean. 

Brush us with them all, carry on without a care. 

Towards places and paths one would not dare. 

Carrying messages of hope, of love and desire, 

Filling our pen with lofty thoughts, clouds always inspire.
