No More Mine

No More Mine

The hands that held my face,

Were now folded in a sorrowful grace.

Eyes that always shone with adoration,

Were now closed in a silent salvation.

The woman who was always so warm,

Was so cold that shivers ran down my arm.

My knees were weakened,

And heart refused to be reasoned.

My hands stretched out to touch her once more,

As I fell and put my head on her still core.

The moisture on my face was nothing new,

It had been there for how long, I never knew.

As I reached to touch her feet,

The dry skin there was ready to greet.

I held her and heaved and sobbed,

But she didn’t wake to give me what she had robbed.

When they finally picked her up on their shoulders,

I screamed hard enough to break the boulders.

Adorned in flowers and new clothes,

She went on a journey with new oaths.

My prayers for her soul fell on deaf ears,

Where she was going, there were no fears.

My realization came for my dadi,

I knew now, she was just a body.
