Society portrays her to be weak,

She's tough: Not sleek,

She gives a botox smile when hurt,

She retorts for eve-teasing and flirt.

She stays fearless in turmoil,

She doesn't like to recoil:

She is kind-hearted and full of mercy,

She has made the nation proud and worthy.

She's a wonderful company and plays many roles

As a daughter, wife, friend, sister, and sometimes foe's.

She's worshipped as "Devi" on one hand,

And tortured for dowry on the other:

She lives on a Male chauvinist land-

Probably this is the crime made by her.

Her weeping heart mutters maledictions for being a "Woman"

In the womb itself, the quest began-

And before those cruel hands could reach the womb

The fetus decided its fate and the tomb.
