Tenali Rama

Wisdom with humour is truly a wonderful combination. And rare to find, that is why who owned this is remembered for many years. Their stories and examples are still an inspiration to us. And that teaches us a lot, their wisdom is beyond our imagination and that's why so much interesting to read and watch it performed and recreated on a television screen. 

Tenali Rama was one such rare kind of person. Also known as Tenali Raman a Poet and also known for his intelligence and sense of humour. Tales of his wit and wisdom are still famous and a part of Television programs. The stories are taught to students as moral stories too.

Tenali Rama was an advisory in the Court of one of the king's in South India. The king's name was Sri Krushnadevaraya.

Tenali Rama came to Krishnadevaraya ' s kingdom in Hampi. He came in search of job in the palace as he had heard that king is very kind and generous. " Even if he appoints me as Poet I will be happy. " That is what he and his wife thought. He asked his wife to wait in one temple there and he told her that, " I will go and meet the king Krishnadevaraya. "

Tenali Rama rush towards the King's Palace. when he come to the Palace gate, the guard stop him and doesn't allow him to go inside. So he told him that, " I have come from far away, and I am a Poet so I want to meet King and read a Poem which I have written for him. And I have heard that the King is very generous, if he like my Poem he may give me some gift. " so guard said, " fine. with one condition I will allow you to go inside that if king gives you the gift, you will have to give  half of that to me. " so Tenali Rama agree to that.

He walks further inside where King is sitting there and all his ministers, advisors also were around him in a very big hall. there also one guard ask him, who are you ? and what you want ? so he said , " I am a Poet and I want to meet the King . Gatekeeper has allowed me and I have a deal with him . " so he said, " fine, if King gives you any gift for reading a Poem for him then you will have to give half of that to me. " so Tenali Rama Agree .

Now Tenali Rama enter into that hall and rushes towards the King . so King tell his Advisors to punish him with fifty lashes . So Tenali Rama requests the King to first listen to him and then give him punishment so King agree to it . Tenali Rama told King about his purpose for coming and that he is a Poet . and also what happened with him while entering the Palace and how corrupt are the Guards . now king allows him to read his Poem , and King Krishnadevaraya gets impressed with his Poetry skill . But he tell him that as told earlier and since you have broken the rule  , you will get the punishment of fifty lashes . so Tenali Rama told the guard to wait and call those two guards with whom he made a deal of giving them half of what he will get . so King also tell the guard to call those two corrupt guards and give them the punishment of fifty lashes each .

While Tenali Rama gets a Reward for telling the truth to King and for the Poetry and also for his wisdom . King invite Tenali Rama's wife also to Palace and give them expensive clothes and other gifts . And also appoint Tenali Rama as his special Advisor in Royal court Jester .

This is how Tenali Rama becomes an important part of King Krishnadevarays's kingdom and become dearest to King . He solves many difficult cases with his wisdom , and many issues that come from general people to Royal Court . Tenali Rama used to solve the cases by demonstrating and showing it through experiments so that king is convinced all the time , and people who were wrong and used to cheat others and King , were revealed due to Tenali Rama's honesty and skill . Also with his wisdom and humor he saved many innocent people from wrong punishment and wrong judgments by King and his Ministry . and he always gets praises from the King and blessings and well wishes from general public .
