A Battle

A Battle

2 mins
387

The blood inside me was boiling,

With a sole hope, I was waitin'.

All the attempts I made, failed,

In the battle against the fiend within.

The scars were shouting loud,

Wild thoughts racing in my brain.

Although I was still as colossal wreck,

My little body was weary of the pain.

I felt breathless and set my heart on.

Pulled my hands up to palm my ears,

Anxiety turned my cheeks wet and cold,

And I was left in silent sobbing tears.

The devil inside was laughing,

Giving his mockery stares,

I saw the smile creeping on his dark lips,

With the wilful greeny glares.

I scratched myself to get rid of him,

And got flashbacks of nights I'd spent.

But today I'll fight back unlike,

The hard failure days, through which I went.

I managed to reach the ensuite,

Stumbling and slipping along the way.

I lit up the lights to cleanse myself,

And was ready to survive a new day!

In the spotless mirror, I saw,

A boy thin and fragile.

No monster was being manifested,

With green eyes and an evil smile.

My scars were soothing now,

With the wounds red and white.

The veins within my flawed skin gleamed,

Under the comforting warmth of light.

I returned back to my room,

Felt better but the best was yet to come.

Coming near, footsteps were audible,

Of people in white coats and my mum.

"Congratulations! He is recovering."

They said, and mum came closer.

"I will not harm you, Mumma," I mumbled.

Owing to the winner inside and not the loser.
