August
August
It was hot and humid
The month being August
Armed with a suitcase full of memories
She steps out into the world.
Left her childhood "suddenly" behind
To face the tough world
Suddenly the hidden realities became stark
And she only had herself to rely on.
Detractors said she won't succeed
She proved them all wrong
Little by little she stood up
Defied odds one by one.
Gone were her childhood pranks
Gone were her demands
Now she has matured
A little woman in command.
Now she creates her own stories
Writes her own tales
Sings her own songs
Makes her own mistakes.
Now she doesn't need our hand to hold
Doesn't need our support
Has left all her fraility way behind
She's confident and in control.
Come August, she's all alone
All by herself
Motivating me to seek the harsh truth
It depends on none but yourself.
