Damaged Girl
Damaged Girl
Behind her mask, there once was
a princess locked inside of a tower,
Such a gentle soul, a naïve little flower
Years passed, but still, nobody came
No, nobody came to save her
and to take away all of her pain.
She wiped away her stray tears
She put her tiara down
and just swallowed her fears
She grabbed the sword
that was leaning against the locked door
She decided that she could not wait
for somebody to save her anymore.
She realized that nobody would save her
besides herself
That day, she decided that she
would no longer ask for help
She slayed her own dragon,
the one that kept guard
She did not feel any better though,
as her soul just shattered into shards.
It is amazing really, what a smile can hide
You would never think that
the soul beneath had already died
She acts as if nothing ever happened
But the truth is, the girl beneath
is really marred and even more bent.
She is the girl that nobody would ever expect
That is because she gives
the illusion that her life is perfect
You could not fathom the darkness
of her pain and suffering
Despite that, she still chose to be
kind, compassionate and caring
The lack of love that she acquired,
she wants to give to everybody else
She secretly dreams of the day
where she can hear her own wedding bells
She endeavors to understand
because she knows what it is like
to be misunderstood
She convinces everyone “they can”
because nobody ever told her “she could”.
She genuinely listens because
she knows what it is like to be ignored
She gives people pieces of herself pr
probably a lot more than she can afford
She will pull you up because
she knows what it was like to drown
She is the type of girl who
can turn your whole day around.
She will offer you her shoulder
and even a listening ear
She will listen to all of the frustrations
that everyone else just refused to hear
She will always be there because
she knows what it is like to feel alone
She is the type of girl to never forget
the acts of kindness that you have shown.
She notices everything that gives off
even the tiniest piece of light
She spent so long in the dark,
to her, everything just seems bright
She will help you carry the weight
upon your very own shoulders
If only to prevent your heart
from growing anymore colder.
She is the girl who matured with the damage
She chose to be strong
and not dwell on the carnage
So remember to heed the words
that she has spoken
Here is to the girls who have
been beautifully broken.
