Hello, old friend.

We meet again tonight

In the dullness of my thoughts,

In the darkness of my sight.

And as always, I have stories to share,

But words not to speak.

I will tell you all about today,

All I know, all I could seek.

I seldom sleep on this empty bed,

This shadowy room makes my face look cyan,

That small window barely lets through a gloomy glow,

But gratefully I have you to escape the silence.

With you I can share my everything.

You allow me to calm down, come out,

For you are so approachable,

You never scold, never shout.

If anyone were to see us together,

They would probably think I am manic,

Or guess that I am a sleep-talker,

Or pretend to be sympathetic.

But it does not matter,

Whether they laugh or sigh,

What they say or who they are,

I care about only you and I.

You cannot see yourself in the pupil of my eye,

But you know you exist in my heart and mind,

You save me from myself every night,

You are the reason I go on with life.
