DEDICATED TO MY MOTHER
DEDICATED TO MY MOTHER
My first step, my first word Ma…
You kept me near you as a child;
When you did take your walk outside,
You held me close by your side.
As I grew up, found you to be busy;
But at work you were an angel,
Trying to ease somebody’s pain ;
By a word in passing, or just by her touch.
In moments when I needed you the most,
You never were there for me
So then to forget my loneliness
Found solace in strumming my guitar.
Over the years we grew apart;
As responsibilities piled up on me,
Life’s burden created the divide and
Situations took us away from each other.
You’ve grown so old and frail
And somewhere, have lost yourself in time,
Voice so feeble, holding on to days as you ail
Lost to the world, hoping you’d be fine.
Days before saw you, lying with eyes closed
Responding to the voice of your favourite child
Way past midnight, you said goodbye to this world;
Taking your final flight, into the heavenly abode.
