Different Shades...
Different Shades...
Countless flowers and chocolate brown
Romance had engulfed the entire town
Romeo and Juliet were roaming hand in hand
It was a great day to be alive in an enchanted land
But in an abandoned house where no one went
Lost in each other's eyes were Johny and Trent
Creating their own beautiful paradise
Inside the same closet where so many secrets they had hide
Their heads were held high with pride
Leaving all the prejudices of the world outside
With cheeks flushed and hearts racing
As gradually their true-selves they were embracing
Fear of being rejected was still there
“Why can’t people let us be…” Trent said being annoyed “That’s just not fair!”
Jonny said with a gentle smile
“Obstacles in love never go out of style.”
Trent being confused asked “Are we doing anything wrong?
The word ‘inappropriate’ has become our forever tag-along.
Where our love is always misconstrued
Taken as disease and wrongly viewed”
Holding Trent’s hand Johny chuckled
He said sincerely “With such thoughts, at times, even I’m troubled
But what you don’t understand my dear
We labeled as ‘eccentric’ are constantly judged and feared
For all the people who have only one perception
Every other contemplation is merely a deception
Our love is special and difficult to accept
For them, our boundaries, we have over-stepped
For centuries, they have preached the color of love to be red
The same old idea of hearts and roses, engraved on our hearts, to us they have fed
Turning a blind eye to the panorama that love is far greater and alluring
Forgetting that the true nature of love is merely about someone, deeply caring
For better or for worse, to have and to hold
As two individuals together this path of life unfold
Love is like that humble ray of sunshine on a stormy day
In dire situations that glimmer of hope which manifests the way
It showers in form of rain-drops and provides fragrance to even this dirty ground
No wonder shape of love is somewhat semi-round
The greater picture, if seen, is simply breath-taking
A fascinating rainbow, a visual treat, not worth staking.
So my darling now you see
Along with red; orange, yellow, green, blue and violet setting you free.
Our love has always been unique
So what if people call us ‘freaks’!
What we have, for anything in the world, I wouldn’t trade
And unlike tedious red, the true love, in fact, comes in different shades…”
