Diwali - An Ode To Values

Diwali - An Ode To Values

As we wind up the festivities of Navratri,

With Dussehra concluding this memorable array

We have our eyes affixed to the calendar

Looking forward to that one day.

The craving is the same,

As the trio had for meeting their clan

The excitement is the same

As the city had for welcoming their divine man.

The pride is the same

As the brothers and the army experienced after a victorious fight

And the gratitude is the same

As everyone felt the darkness being engulfed by light

This occasion might just have a single word Diwali

As its name

But a multitude of things are to be conveyed

By each of its colours, blossoms, candles and Diya flame

The spectacular lights illuminating our houses, streets, and hearts

Tells us that evil will always be defeated by the power of good

The reuniting of the royal family at Ayodhya

Reminds us of the values of togetherness and brotherhood

The colourful vibrant rangolis we make

Marks the beautiful imprints on the floor as goddess Lakshmi steps in

And the yellow and orange marigolds framing our doors

Symbolises peace, and happiness, and enlightens positivity within

Cleaning each and every corner of our house on this day

Helps us in pushing out the negativity out of our lives

And being dressed is attractive new clothes

Marks the start of a new beginning and definitely gives festive vibes

Each and every aspect of this day reminds us of today and forever

To be loving as Mata sita

Powerful and true as Lord ram

Selfless as dear Lakshman

And devoted as Lord hanuman

So the occasion might just have a single word Diwali

As its name

But a multitude of things are to be conveyed

By each of its colours, blossoms, candles and Diya flame
