Expectations
Hands clasped tight, our faces were gleaming,
Lis pressed into a line to keep us from screaming.
A promising one given is given, he said,
And though it was night, none of us went to bed.
Go on, or you will never get it, he warned,
So to our beds, we all swarmed.
When will it come, whined voices five,
Soon, he said with twinkling eyes, it will arrive.
With a hopeful heart did we sleep, our dreams happy,
The prospects bright, our thoughts were sunny.
Then morning dawned, bright and cold, our hearts leaping,
We ran down and saw, a little puppy sleeping
