Heart's struggle

The heart can be a stubborn thing,

Resisting logic, refusing to cling

To the truth that's plain to see,

Preferring instead sweet fantasy.

It longs to hold onto a love that's gone,

To keep alive what once shone,

To hold onto the memories and the dreams,

Ignoring the pain, or so it seems.

Metaphors fail to capture the depth of its ache,

As the heart holds on, refusing to break,

It clings to what once was, hoping for more,

Unable to see what lies in store.

The heart is a vessel of emotion and love,

But sometimes, it holds onto what's long gone,

It needs to let go and start anew,

For only then, can it finally renew.

So, dear heart, it's time to release,

To let go of what once gave peace,

Embrace the present, embrace the new,

And let your wounds begin to subdue.

For though it may be hard to do,

Letting go is the only way through,

And when you do, you'll be set free,

To love again, as it was meant to be.
