I Am Dark But Lovely
I Am Dark But Lovely
I am dark but lovely,
I am the solace of a man's soul,
A pearl of human beauty lies in my secret heart,
My words have an aroma sweet as the Saviour's breath.
I am always careful of what I chase,
Because I know that what opened Adam's eyes, closed Sampson's eyes.
In the veil of the night, I gleam like a moon,
My dark eyes have hurled the arrows of lashes at a man's soul,
Within my lips do hidden secrets lie,
How can you compare my beauty to the sun and moon?
Before my beauty, sun and moon are tiny stars that shine in vain.
Now, to the Western world:
When I remove my veil, I am a dazzling sun, whose face is like the moon,
I do not love the world for to love the world is a great burden.
O sowers of confusion in our century, appreciate my dark skin,
For I am also the handwork of our Majesty,
All glory and praise be to Jehovah
