Independence Day

The year 1947 was auspicious as could be

We Indians could finally call ourselves free

The British rule was finally over

And India's name could independently hover.

Our flag is our prideWaving far and wide

The magic of four Hue..

Saffron, white, green and blue.

Thanks to the soldiers we live in peace

From the Britishers our freedom they seized

The lives they shed to defend us all

The struggle on the 15th is what we recall.

Every year we hoist our tricolour flag

We remember never to brag

Eating sweets and singing too

Recollecting the struggle through

We see the parade with pride 

Flying jets far and wideWaving the flag

With the 'Bharatiya' tag

The anthem of our nation,

Hints India is god's beautiful creation

My motherland and I are never apart

And I thank the almighty for it with all my heart
