My Mother Always Says-

My Mother Always Says-

1) You can't change a man

Yet she nags dad to put off the cigarette

And when he bums into another one

She silently cries in the kitchen, preparing a peg for him

Yes, dad drinks too and mom doesn't like it.

2) You get the respect only if you respect yourself

Yet she sleeps half stomached everyday

Since Dadi called her fat the other day.

3) Never let a man control your actions

Yet she shivers when she returns late from a party

Which dad permitted to go to

Gives thousands of excuses before even being asked...

And goes straight to the kitchen...

4) Don't try to be the perfect person

Yet she is so particular about her choices

Mostly influenced by our family members

She has become the perfect vessel

For our family's demands, that is filling her,

But not fulfilling enough for anyone.

I wait for that vessel to break someday

5) Never take shit from anyone.

And that day, irony laughed at her

So hard.

Cause she heard me complain

About this guy in my class straight for two hours

And then see me leaving the room in a jiffy

To attend his call. I became her, in her face!

If only she could stop giving me advice,

there would be nothing left for her to violate.

I am desperately waiting for the vessel to break.
