Ode To My Sleepless Nights!

As I lay in bed and put my head to rest,

The over-thinker in me awakens and is at its best!

I thought a new mattress is what I need, 

But clearly that wasn’t the solution indeed!

One thought at a time seems like a task,

Suddenly there are answers with no questions asked! 

Assumptions come to my beck and call,

Oh! For small mercies, away with them all!

I am turning and tossing like the veggies in a wok,

My thoughts are in bubbles and each of them I want to poke. 

The pains of the past and the perplexities of the present, 

Then I think of my future with utmost discretion.

They say to sleep well you need peace,

Where can I find this, could you tell me, please? 

I rest my case like I did with my head,

It’s 7 am now, time to get out of bed!
