Precious Love (Theme: Love Is Love)

What do we mean by love?

If the word connotes just physicality

Then I transcended barriers and evolved,

If it’s compassion, then I’ve embraced impartiality.

Love for Nature is love for the universe,

Imagine a world devoid of trees: An Apocalyptic curse,

Poets have eulogized love in many a noble verse,

We hold on to emotions till in the waters we immerse.

If love hadn’t been love, but something else,

If love had been measured out in cups or in the past tense

If love is the offering to deities, amid peeling bells,

Then love’s rotted itself, giving off putrid smells…

The cup of love brimmed over with love,

In front of this Goliath, people under the table shove

Feelings of hate, and anxiety fly on the wings of the dove

Love’s that all-embracing feeling, By Jove!

Love is amorous and love is refined,

Love conquers all borders and territories defined

Love is an emptiness – solid and sombre – hard to find,

Love is a diamond, scooped out of a love mine!
