Shadow Of Hope
Shadow Of Hope
Here I stand, alone as a stone,
With tears so warm, yet a heart so cold.
I listen to tales, so mournfully told
A day of sorrow, a day of strife..
Just another day in a sinner’s life.
As darkness prevails, more hurt is to come
So in the arms of hope, I take refuge,
For in the end, I know, the light will come.
Waters poisoned and truths twisted,
Into the land of evil, by guile, we were led.
Greed, Hatred, Lust, and fear guide us now
And revenge prevails, in the minds of some.
Songs of death we being silently hum,
While walking on bones and flesh.. under a bloody sun.
But still; in the mystery of faith, I take refuge,
Because someday I know, the light will come.
Battles we forged with great ambition,
Running after hollow dreams and sinful desires.
Mistakes we hid in created shadows,
while the innocent burnt on slow fires.
And as the burden of guilt slowly grew,
so did our skills as straight-faced liars.
Faraway we hear an inhuman scream;
And I now doubt if we are still human beings?
And so in the divine forgiveness, I take refuge,
Losing hope, for the light still hasn’t come!
But far across the horizon, is that a rainbow I see?
And if life is lived, relative to history.
Will I soon be feeling the sting of something new?
Yesterday in hatred we stood, with blinded eyes,
Today our souls will be washed, with the new dawn’s dew.
We have strayed too far from the truth which was real,
But now it’s time to love, it’s time to feel.
Though today I’m still alone, I feel free.. a new man.
For, at last, the light has come.. and it’s here to stay.
