Sleeping In Her Arms
Sleeping In Her Arms
Shifting me from side to side
Patting delicately on my back
Then on the head, and again on my back.
Even tries
Bouncing me softly in his arms,
Graciously swinging with a soft song,
Daddy tries hard, goes out of his ways
To make my eyes shut.
Declaring firm disapproval,
I continue to bawl,
Until daddy gives up!
And mommy takes up the charge...
Mommy though,
Is a tough nut to crack.
Not complaining, she has her own ways
To distract
Her little one to sleep, her methods are always a charm.
She takes me in her arms, asks me why I cry so hard?
I finally feel safe, in reverence of this beautiful soldier,
Uniformed in a saree, ready to jump leaps and bounds to kill off every plight...
I stop to cry.
Planting kisses on the forehead
And lovingly swinging me back and forth
In the gentle commotion,
My mother, a magician of all sorts,
Bewitches me to drift away
To dreams that speak of
Angels like her.
Sleeping in her arms,
Feels like a paradise
I'd never want to wake up from!
