                                                             The Lonely Threshold 

                                                           (From a boy to his beloved)

Listen to me, my love, listen now, I pray,

No secrets held; my heart lays bare this day.

"Sweetheart, sweetheart," I whisper, soft and low,

This waiting is endless, a fire's cruel glow.

Beloved, come, my yearning cannot wait,

Open your arms, unseal my lonely fate.

No more delays, let distance melt away,

My "sweetheart, oh sweetheart," calls you night and day.

Hear the echo in these paths, forlorn and worn,

Footprints of your absence etched and torn.

Doors flung wide, windows sing your coming nearby,

Eager anticipation, banishing all fear.

Oh, listen, my beloved, my beautiful one,

"Sweetheart, sweetheart, please!" till the dawning sun.

One hand tremble, fearing worldly scorn,

The other craves your touch, a love reborn.

Life whispers by, a fleeting, mocking shade,

With empty words, for you my tears cascade.

Yet, Heaven hears no plea, no pity shown,

Grant me death, release me from this love unknown.

Blessed the hand that bridges hearts entwined,

Reuniting lovers, leaving sorrow behind.
