That it's not meant to be

It has been so many days,

So many years since we have met.

We have shared every thought;

Even ideas that struck at 3 am.

We have known each other's story-

Both the good and the bad-

We have known all the struggles and woes

Yet We taught each other self love.

We taught each other the ways to care

We taught each other not to look down on ourselves.

How can I forget you?

For if it wasn't for you-

I would never learn to love myself.

When the world misunderstands you,

And All you want is a break,

The break of few hours or

Much more than an eternity,

Why do all my decisions feel vague?

Why does it haunt me to think that not we are meant to be together?

Why does it pain me to swipe through the stories?

Why does it pain me to think of the past memories?

Is it only me?

Does these only haunt me?

It might be just me, or might be not.

Because all I think about is happiness,

All I think about is a comforting smile,

All I think about is a cozy hug-

That has the power to heal all wounds and pain.

You try to hide your feelings,

They try to expose it more,

The more your heart and mind quarrels,

The more you feel it grow.

For every time I think of it,

My heart yearns for it,

But my brain teaches me-

That it's not meant to be.

We die to want something,

But the same want kills us within

We still keep fighting that war

Hoping for a win sometimes.
