The Forbidden Sonnet
The Forbidden Sonnet
When their eyes first met from across the room
They immediately knew of the dangers lurking
But over their smitten hearts couldn’t be cast a gloom
Their eyes were gleaming, their lips were smirking
They rushed through a romance, spectacularly swift
It was forbidden from the first minute to the bitter end
As their love caused through an entire country a rift
That not an army in the world could ever mend
Where the lovers met, trapped in a lovely daze
The fires sparked and started to run wild
Two lovebirds had not quite gone out in such a blaze
To call it star-crossed would be too mild
Because of their heartfelt romance, the world took such a hit
That it is now even forbidden to merely write a sonnet about it
