The Girl the Sun Loved
The Girl the Sun Loved
There was this girl the Sun loved
unbeknownst to her
a secret He trusted only the birds with
the world would say otherwise
but He shone only for her
He knew her love for colors,
ergo every evening
He would light up the sky, His ally,
in shades of crimsons and reds
if only to see excitement well up in her eyes,
in the night He'd listen to her speak to the Moon, of her life
and in the mornings
He would caress her tresses with His gentle rays.
The birds would ask Him to confess
but He knew better
she was a child of the mortals
while He was birthed from a huge disintegration
into a ball of raging flames.
His love would burn her
and if that were to happen
He'd be consumed by regret
but He couldn't afford to perish
He was bound by duty
for the greater good!
He had to stay away, love her from afar!
