The Hungry Ant
The Hungry Ant
On my balcony door, an ant arrives
I shoo it away with my big brown foot
She goes hither and thither
Following her team's pheromones
She finally reaches her ant dome
built inside the wall pipe
For it has not rained for many days
The dust all around goes into the drain
She tells her friends
There lives a giant lass on the terrace
Her long dark curly tresses fall
When she uses a big fork to untangle them
Standing in front of a large mirror
That mimics her vast built
Reflecting golden light everywhere
Like lightning strikes the earth
On a stormy day blocking my way
Her hair fell on me and I go hither and thither
I was trying to make my way to her dustbin
Which smells of mango peels from last night
And Suddenly the dustbin is wide opened
And I am mesmerized
Oh, dear! I am in a trance and crave the mangoes more and more
She picks up her coiled wires from the floor
Coil them more and more
And pour the wool into the dustbin
The lid closes and my ears hurt
Like a large thunderclap just hit the ground
I turn my head above to see her big eyes
Like a brown cherry in the center of a vanilla cake
She looks at me with a wide gaze
My heart is frozen
Like an orange candy popsicle which we can not relish
And I stand still like human kids
Stand still in a school parade
She shoos me with her big brown foot
And I go hither and thither
Help help! I scream and run as fast as I can
Just like that man, we laughed upon
A few days back who ran and a dog ran behind
Oh well! I am saved today and so do you all
She knows we are here
We need a plan
We will go again but at night
The brown-foot damsel will be in a slumber
And we will enjoy the mango bite
I think of that ant
And rushed, I clear off the dustbin
I wash the box with a spoonful of dettol and some water
I mop the floor
Which do become sparkly as promized by Lizol
I lay on my bed at night to sleep
And crave for a mango treat
I open the fridge and select the ripest of all
I cut them into 5 halves
And eat four out of all
I keep the smallest slice
in the balcony near the drain
"Enjoy the feast ya'all"
I turn off the lights
Lay on my bed again
I sleep at ten and wake up at five
The sky is clear awaiting sun's grace
I feel the breeze caressing my face softly
as softly as soft baby blanket
I inhale wet mud's fresh scent
Only to discover the last night's rain
Which had washed the balcony and the drain.
