The Invisible Father

You provided us during our poorest times,

But you didn't realize the need of being the dad to your son,

You labored so hard yet the work of father was never done,

Frequently exhausted you came home,

Rather than looking at your kids, you stared at the screen,

What was missing in the house,

You fulfilled with materialistic things,

I was conscious that the affection that was needed,

It was depleted in sweat and pain,

You chose to have children and abandon from the love they envisioned,

I constantly criticized you at every juncture

Sometimes it was hard to believe the Orthodox nature of our upbringing,

I confided in my mother, kept a vacuum in our bond,

I grew up with you breathing around yet we were just part of the family tree that just exists in the center of the home,

I evolved to stand on my own, you never respected the stand or helped me in my dark times,

In my defense, I despised you for most of my life, because you were the reason I was depressed,

My school days or college, I recall the plays or sports,

How your ignorance hurt my spirit and you sulking in your chair mortified my soul, 

How parenting is changed in today's world,

Living in the same house, yet the distance is insane,

Now that I have matured, I know that you tried your best,

I break myself every day,

As I understand, you were the best even when you dint realize how to be great.
