The Last Embrace
The Last Embrace
He behaved quite differently today,
All throughout my life,
I have never seen him this way,
As I reached home, he already kept the door opened,
The house was decorated with my favourite flowers which he must have chosen,
With scented candles, the whole house was lit,
It was so arousing, it was hard to resist,
In one of his best suits, he was dressed,
He looked his best, any other woman he could've impressed,
There was this glow on his face that day which made him look younger,
He got me in his embrace and he kissed me all over,
Fifteen years of marriage he had never been so loving,
I was drowsy in his arms, my favourite song he was humming,
On any other day, it would have been so romantic and so very usual,
But it happened on the day when I returned home from his funeral.
