The Modern Princess
The Modern Princess
No Prince Charming comes over a chariot;
I stopped looking for the Knight in the shining armour -- the day I chose to become a warrior Princess, without a crown.
A messy bun is my symbol of beauty
As I walk out without a tiara or a flowy evening gown
With dark circles beneath my eyes.
No, not being a sleeping beauty as I spend sleepless nights building an empire of my own - not a castle of dreams
For a storeroom is where it begins
And with each step I take towards the mansion of my passion
I don't sail through the emerald waters,
As I am stuck in traffic.
And today before finding true love,
I strive to find self-love.
No, I'm not a damsel in distress
I got no Cinderella complex
My one shoe isn't missing
And my only childhood friend comes to my rescue
And far from Rapunzel's length,
I have a Bob cut.
Being single excites me;
But I still believe in the idea of happily ever after
Only if it's me living with my dreams
In the house I bought independently.
Yes, I am a modern-day princess and this is my story
