The Show Must Go On

The Show Must Go On

2 mins
198

Another dawn breaks, a new day shining bright,

Yet the sun fails to touch his deep chill.

His burdened backaches, he’s had a long night,

But he braces himself for stiller.

He picks up his box, with his brushes and paint,

And sits down in front of the dresser.

His dead eyes are hollow, he’s tired of this feint,

He doesn’t know the man in the mirror…

And he thinks to himself like he’s thought for so long,

As he paints a great smile on his face.

How many more years to wait

Is this really his fate?

But alas, the show must go on…

Out in the rink, amidst the laughter and cheer,

He’s there to mock and make them smile.

The irony stings, his eyes are bulging with tears,

Yet his face is a mask all the while.

And again he thinks to himself like he’ll think all life long,

While he wipes that red smile off his face.

How many more years to waste,

Is this really his fate?

But he knows that the show must go on…

Yes, the show must go on,

Though he may not be around,

Someone else will be there in his place.

He’ll wear colored attire,

He’ll set the whole crowd afire,

He, too, will bear that smile on his face….

And so he thinks to himself like he’s done all along,

When will I have a smile on my face?

How many more years to fake,

When will I make my fate?

But I know that the show must go on.

Yes I know, the show will go on….
