Watch Your Step
Watch Your Step
Walking through the midst of a rainy London evening
The smell of rain-kissed grass, the clutter of raindrops and splashes from the passing cars
I walked through the garden and saw the kids play
And I saw a boy so pale
Pale, but eyes of gems
A smile to light up even the darkest of nights
This beauty I'd never met in my life
I then walked up and we conversed
A night I would remember even though I hurt
We danced in his backyard
And hummed to the tunes
I fell in love so soon
But it went altogether along with the mother bird's croon
He met someone else
And forgot about me
It doesn't feel like the perfect symphony
One night I went to the kitchen
I heard a crack and looked back
It was a lizard I stepped on
And I couldn't move ahead on
I then went to my room, apologized to the lizard, who is now in heaven
I realized it was all a lesson
I went into the kitchen without looking at what was ahead
I went and fell in
And ended up killing the innocent
Just like I went and conversed with that boy
I fell in a hole I couldn't avoid
Without thinking about what was ahead
I fell in and killed my innocent self
So before you walk
Look ahead
And watch your step
