A Sharpened Pencil Amongst....

In this life, everything is mandatorily not equal nor the same. Just as plants are not the same, animals are not the same and so as humans. Angela was a kind of different girl who has always been different from others because of the uniqueness in her, for one is different because they have that kind of specialness on them which no one else possesses. Everywhere Angela went she seems to be different like a dove amongst ravens.

Both at home and in school, she was exempt, for such reasons, it could and did bring jealousy and hatred. What to do, it's not like it's her fault for being different. In a given class, one person is most likely to be the best and Angela happens to be the lucky girl. Some people when different are weird or stupid, but her difference was not just good but an example of an ideal kid. But not all her classmates think so, whenever she walked to a particular table to have lunch, those sitting there would vacate the table for her immediately so the princess would sit. The family is supposed to be the one standing for you when all are against you, but it was different in Angela's case. Her siblings were just like her classmate who would rather vacate where they are than to be around her. It never hurt so much when her classmate do that to her, for some reason because she shares something that cannot be rejected no matter how many times the mouth reject's it; which was her parents, blood, and every other thing that is compulsory for a family to share.

Despite all the neglect and intimidation by her siblings and classmates, Angela soothes herself and tries as hard as possible to pretend it doesn't get to her while it more than gets to her. As expected, there must be a group of people who would take it upon themselves to make Angela suffer for being unique indifferent. Both in school and at home, a group of people made it more than a real struggle for Angela to survive. It was as if they planned it all along even before her birth to wait for her in order to add salt to her sore wound from the crown of her head to the sole of her feet. People were being rewarded and loved for being uniquely different, but the universe seems to be against her being uniquely different for it to allow almost everyone around her to add salt to her never healing sore wounds.

Angela was all unique in everything she does. The day came when the president visited her city. As expected everyone pretends to be humble when they are not. As he landed in the city, the following day Mr. President went to schools to ensure that the governmental school was not lacking anything. Angela despite being uniquely different was not very opportune to attend a big private school so she was a student in one of the government schools in her city. Like anyone would predict, Mr. President noticed Angela because, in the school as a whole, she was given the chance to welcome the president, which has never happen before. The whole time Mr. President was in that school, his eyes were only on her. Being given the chance to give the welcoming speech, made her happy that her face was all smiley that day Like someone who won a scholarship. Everyone who saw her smiling thought Mr. President gave her a scholarship which she told them he didn't, they were all very disappointed that the president didn't even notice how brilliant little Angela was so he would give her a scholarship.

Few weeks after Mr. President visited Angela's city, a letter came from the president to little Angela, which everyone around wanted to read. Angela was invited to give a welcoming speech at the upcoming President's Union Meeting(PUM). The PUM was a meeting like from the name for presidents. The official language of the union was English, French, and Portuguese. Angela only knew how to speak English and French because it was been taught in her school. So she had to learn Portuguese within two weeks of receiving the letter. She learned it almost like a pro in two weeks from the Internet. The D-Day came and Angela who was so excited became nervous but did not let it stop her from giving the welcoming speech, she gave the speech just like she has practiced. Just like Mr. President was surprised when he first heard Angela give the speech, the Presidents present that day was also surprised to hear a kid give a speech as an adult would. For that day, Angela became a celebrity who her fans were going crazy over. There was a car full of gifts from each president to little Angela. 

Few days after the PUM, Mr. President visited Angela in order to say thank you for making his very first hosted meeting a success, he came to say thank you in a way that everyone has been waiting for. A scholarship to any educational level and a job opportunity was given to Angela. With this jackpot Angela hit, it brought more hatred which made them add all the salt they have got to Angela's little recovery wound. This time Angela did not pretend, she let it out with tears and requested a meeting with the President which was granted as she had requested. Mr. President was expecting something more different from what Angela came for, her main purpose of visiting was the first stupid thing she has ever done. 

" I don't want the scholarship anymore," said Angela who was all sad.

Mr. President was very disappointed so he asked.

    " Why don't you want the scholarship anymore," Mr. President asked and it made Angela cry, and then she narrated all she has been through because she was not as dumb as those who salt to her wounds. 

" They are only doing that because they are jealous of you, you are like A Sharpened Pencil Amongst The Unsharpened Ones. Said Mr. President as he convinced her to take the scholarship.

Mr. President made those salt to wound adder apologize and promised to never do it again. Anyone can predict that from that day Angela lived happily ever after kind of life.
