Contrasting news of vanity and pain!

I wonder where the world is heading to? Every day we come across stories, stories that shake us up from within, stories for which we want happy endings, stories where morality has died down!

While reading the newspaper the other day, even I came across such stories full of contrasts. On one page I read about 11 people dying due to hunger per minute! On the other page, I read about a celebrity flaunting her million-dollar handbag! Vanity at its best, should I say?

It is alarming to know more people are dying due to hunger in such an advanced world. A world where billionaires are enjoying their joy ride to space just for the thrill of it, just to experience weightlessness for a couple of minutes! 

The kind of wasteful spending done on such vain thrills should get us out of our comfort zone. I'm not sure about you but I surely shudder. When will this consumerism and consumption spree stop? We need to take a break, sit down, look back, think logically, where are we headed as a whole. Wouldn't this world be a better place if we all live a sustainable life, away from use and throw culture?

Dear readers, it's a humble request from me, let's all resolve to start being more responsible and compassionate towards our planet, towards our fellow beings. Let's feed the hungry first, our unnecessary purchases can wait.
