Face the challenge

It was night around 11:53 when Stephen was having insomnia. Stephen Jones a 17-year-old and the only son of Greg Jones and Karen Jones. Greg was a Professor and a Scientist and Karen was an entrepreneur she used to cook snacks and sell them. Both of them were highly qualified and were known by all of the people. Stephen being their only child was pressurized a lot as his parents were successful so he has to be one too. Stephen wasn’t that good in science he couldn’t cope with it as the other students would. But there were some chapters where only Stephen could understand. Now, what do we call this? A person who only understands a few chapters but not the rest? Some may say those chapters are his interests, some may say his father must be great in those subjects and that’s why he is great in it. Well, we can’t say what it is. Each and every person in this world has a right to follow their dreams and to choose their career options. Every parent for once at least asks their child what they want to be or what are their interests, in what field do they want to pursue their career. Stephen was never asked these questions. Not from his parents, from teachers, relatives none. As every child, even Stephen had dreams and interests but none ever asked him. Greg wanted Stephen to be just like him so that they can work together and maybe open a company. Stephen liked space but loved photography and he was great at it.

The Day of Graduation

The alarm went on ‘peep peep peep peep’ its 6 in the morning tired Stephen pushed the alarm clock and it went off. The door opened, “Wake up it's your Graduation day!” and boom the door was slammed. “Stephen Jones” with that call Stephen entered the stage had his graduation certificate. “You are going to be a great scientist just like me!” said Greg. Stephen just smiled and just went with the flow and after a long journey of dealing with paparazzi, aunties, and uncles they finally made it home. Stephen didn’t have many friends he wouldn’t hang out with boys and girls. Well due to a lot of pressure and sadness he did have some stress and anxiety but would act like he is good. The only time when Stephen would smile was with arch his dog a pug. Stephen loved the arch more than anything and the arch was the only one who would make Stephen smile. Stephen found an arch outside a game center he was really dirty and small. Stephen was playing bow and arrow when his arrow hit the wrong direction. When Stephen went to get his arrow that’s when he saw the arch and decided to adopt him and named him arch. Stephen usually was sad because he was expected to come out as his father or maybe bigger than him but he wanted to be a photographer. He knew that his parents would never agree for him to be a photographer that’s what made him dull. Stephen was really lonely boy. One night when Stephen took arch for a walk he came across an old lady who was struggling to carry the groceries. “I’ll help you with it”, said Stephen. ”Thank you my child my house isn’t that far”, said the old lady. “No problem” and with that Stephen helped the old lady to her house. When they reached her house the lady insisted on Stephen having some tea and cookies. At first, Stephen denied but she insisted so he agreed. Stephen sat on the couch looking around the house while the old lady went inside to get him some tea. The arch was tied up outside. “Here’s your tea and some cruncholates”. ”I am sorry what,” asked Stephen the old lady laughed and sat on the other couch and said, ”My son used to call them cruncholates! Hahaha their just normal chocolate crunches but he! he used to call them cruncholates! We used to bake them every Sunday he used to love them. I made them this morning only but I didn’t eat them I would always eat them with him”, said the old lady. “Who is he?” asked Stephen. “He is Cedric my son.” said the old lady. “Where is he?” asked Stephen. “Ahh he is roaming around the world, he left a couple of days ago, he is a part of the deck crew” said the old lady. “And where is his father?” asked Stephen. “His father is in the quarters given by the scientist Greg jones, he works with him” with that Stephen was shocked but didn’t tell the old lady that he was the son of Greg jones he went on and asked the lady why she didn’t live with him she said,” He didn’t want Cedric to be a part of the deck crew he wanted him to be like him. When Cedric told his dad that he wanted to be a part of the deck crew, his dad didn’t allow him and I just remained quiet. Cedric fought with his dad and finally, his dad agreed and now he is a part of the deck crew”. Stephen asked,” Do Cedric and his dad still talk to each other?”. ” Of course! they do! son the thing is whatever you do after some point your parents agree to it because they are your parents they understand you as none else can. But sometimes you have to fight with them just so that you get what you want but they love you the most. Believe me, when I say after a while it really doesn’t matter what you do what matters is whether you are happy doing it or not. A career cannot change a relationship of a father and a son” listening to that Stephen was overwhelmed and decided to tell the old lady that he was the son of Greg jones. ” I am the son of…Greg jones.”. “I know” the old lady said smiling. “You know?”. “Yeah I do I will be honest with you I don’t mind how big you are or your surname is what matters to me is whether you are a good person or not, whether you give up or face it” with that Stephen greeted the old lady and left for his home. He decided that he will tell his parents that he wants to be a photographer. The next day when the Jones family was having their breakfast Stephen told them that he wanted to be a photographer at first they were shocked and didn’t agree but then Stephen said “A wise lady once told me it doesn’t matter how big person you are what matters is whether you are a good person or not. Whether you give up…. or face it” hearing that Greg and Karen both were surprised and the room went silent. Soon the silence was broken by Stephen who stood up and tried to convince his parents. After he was done telling them everything his parents just smiled and agreed. After that Stephen straight went to the old lady’s house to thank her but when he reached there the house was locked. He asked the neighbors and they said she left to stay with her husband in the headquarters. Two years later, Stephen was an intern as a travel photographer and was currently in the Pyramids of Giza, Egypt. Greg continued on working as a scientist and Karen continued being an entrepreneur.

“Whatever you do after a while your family will accept you and nothing will ever change between you and them. Don’t think that these are problems because thinking that will make you fear it. Think that these are challenges which you have to overcome. In life, we all get hard times, times where we are scared to face things but you know old people once said poison kills poison so face it who knows it would turn out to be the best decision of your life. Remember this is just the beginning.”
