Friendship And Love

Nidhi and Vijay were studying in the same college. In fact, they had also been in the same school but Nidhi was 2 years junior to him. He used to be the headboy of the school. He was always looked up to for his studies and activities by all students.

While studying in college they used to stay in an area but the houses were far apart. 

Nidhi used to go to college in a rickshaw while Vijay used to drive his own car.

Sometimes, he used to cross Nidhi's rickshaw. But all these while it was just that Vijay was a topper of school so also in college and everyone would just admire him.

Very popular academically, a quiz master, one of my friend named him as Siddharth Basu, the then quiz master. He was very good at debate as well.

Nidhi and her friends had the opportunity to get his notes and they did take home and write down and then return back.

Since he was already two batches senior so only one year he was in the college.

It so happened that Vijay had to leave college for university and he was gone.

Nidhi's father now wanted Nidhi to join a good university and he wanted the one where he once went for a year course during his working days.

The university happened to be the same where Vijay went. 

So Nidhi was all the more interested now to join the university.

Nidhi was in the hostel in last two years of her bachelors. It just striked her one day and she wrote a letter to Vijay, but she did not know the address so she addressed to the college where he was affiliated to. Just a formal letter who she was and that she needed help in studies and all that. 

Say about a month or so there came a letter, one of her room mate got it for her. Nidhi's happiness, she was elated and just kissed the girl with a thanks.

The communication continued and Nidhi thought nobody knows about it.

But one of her another roommate (Preeti) whose brother also studied in the same University had asked her who was Nidhi and that she wrote a letter to Vijay. So, this girl Preeti asked Nidhi and they were good friends, so it was ok.

Nidhi would visit home for holidays and there also the letter would arrive as she had informed Vijay. So it seemed Vijay had no problem in communicating through letters.

Now, the time came when Nidhi had to leave for the University, get an admission there, and she did well in her graduation so that she could join the University.Some of her friends were also joining. She went along with her friends to take admission 

So went, she had her sisters in the same place(Delhi) So staying wasn't a problem initially. She took admission with the help of Vijay, who went along with her and got it done.Of course Nidhi's sisters and brother in laws were there too. However, she got it on the basis of her graduation marks. Time went on, classes went on, they would sometime meet in the University or Nidhi would visit him in his hostel. Got all help regarding notes and guidance. A couple of times also Vijay visited Nidhi at her hostel. He even once asked her if she would accompany them to the picnic but Nidhi didnt because she had her exam. Their hostels would celebrate hostel nites where they were allowed to invite their friends but both of them could not because of their respective exams. However, Vijay had sent Nidhi some pastries through another friend. Both Nidhi and Vijay were good friends.

Nidhi's love for Vijay was almost evident gradually and she had almost expressed her love for Vijay but Vijay at that time was in his preparation for MPhil and also busy preparing for his civil services. He also advised Nidhi to study well. In the meanwhile he completed his MPhil, he got through the civil services and went on to his training.

This is where they had their last meeting and both moved on in their different path and career.

Nidhi also took some competitive examinations, she almost got through one in the State but unfortunately that didnt happen for her.She was one sich unlucky girl but then she went back again and tried her luck in joining a private company and she started working with the corporate sector.

In the meanwhile Vijay was already married and Nidhi wasnt.

She worked in different companies remained unmarried whatever the reasons not that Vijay left and she didn't marry but she came along various marriage proposals but none clicked and perhaps she didnt find the right candidate. Chosen to remain single, she was and always remained happy being single. 

And one such occasion came, the reunion of school where all friends got together after decades so was it with Nidhi and Vijay. They both were glad to meet each other.Vijay had come with his wife, she was introduced to Nidhi and they happily greeted each other. The reunion meetings of schools, colleges, Universities did bring them together but as good friends.

It wasn't that it was only love, there was respect and also friendship. That's the way to a happy and positive living.
