Just A Normal Girl - Chapter 2

The mornings were the same as usual. The only difference was that Norma had now finished Middle school and today was her first day at High School.

' Tch, what's new? It's gonna be another troublesome first day to school'. Norma said to herself.

Then the brunette had her breakfast, just like every morning, and went out the door.

Then, Norma began thinking while walking to school.

'Maybe, walking alone like this... Is this what others call loneliness ?'

'Perhaps I need a friend too'

Then she quickly shook such thoughts away.

She remembered, how the last time she tried to make a friend, she got badly humiliated by a group of girls.

So, she continued walking. Until she reached the school.

Norma glanced at her watch. ' Phew, I'm on time'. she mumbled to herself.

Then the girl quickly made her way towards her 'new' classroom.

Norma was just opening the door to enter the classroom. But she felt something sticky on her face. She touched her face, it was slime.

Norma sighed then checked her watch again.

'Oh no, I'm gonna be late if I go towards the restroom now'

So, the girl made her way towards the seat at the far end, in a dark corner.

Luckily, she had a handkerchief and a small hand towel. she quickly wiped her face. Cleansed it well and threw them in a corner of her bag.

This was nothing new, it happened every year. So Norma stopped paying any mind to it.

But this time, this wasn't it. She could hear their snickers from the front. they were planning to soak her too. 

For once, Norma thanked the fact that she was always alone she could easily hear what they were planning. 

Even the group of bullies continued to speak their plans out loud. Yeah, they were quite foolish.

The teacher then entered the classroom and began her class.

Norma took a deep breath and then concentrated in class. Nothing could be done about them.

But little did she know, a blond right across her seat, had seen everything and wanted to avenge her.

At lunchtime, one of the bullies, called Carol, came right before Norma and began taunting her.

Norma just kept her eyes shut and tried her best to pay her no mind. But the cruel words were piercing right through her.

" Lowly wench! Know your place! You are nothing without these books of yours! You are just a fool from a poor family! With my family's power, I can just expel you right out of this school !"

Carol continued and the other girls snickered and shot glares at the brunette.

"How about I just tear these books up ?"

"N-no... Pl-plea-please.. don't...." Norma stuttered. She could do anything. 

The girls tore up her books and also soaked the brunette with her own bottle of water.

Norma began tearing up, but she didn't want to cry in front of the whole class.

So she just stayed silent and let the bullies do anything they wanted. 

Soon, the girls went back to their own seats. As they were expecting a 'response'. This wasn't fun anymore.

Norma then began picking up her torn books. She felt her hand brush against someones. 

She quickly pulled back and turned to see a blond girl, with great hazel-colored eyes, and her smooth blond hair tied up in a ponytail. The blond helped the girl pick up her books, and accompanied Norma to the restroom.

She was a new student, who couldn't stand to see this. All the others in the classroom just minded their own ways, not even bothering to help her out. so she took the initiative and helped her up. She also wiped her face with her own handkerchief and lent it to her.

"Hello, I'm Emma Brown, I am a transfer student here. What's your name? Are you fine now ?"

Norma wasn't in a great state to have conversations, but somehow, said, " I'm- Norma-.. Norma May.. and I -..I - am.. fine.. thank you".

But she wasn't fine. Not at all. Even though they just met, she just hugged the blond tightly and began crying.

Emma patted her own back and tried her best to console the brunette. After some time, Norma wiped her tears and apologized. 

"I'm sorry for being like that. And thank you". She said and moved back.

"It's fine. Would you like to come to my home once? I'll help you back home too" Emma offered.

Norma hesitated. Her mother asked her to never follow a stranger home. But then again, if she returned home like this. Her mother would still be angry.

So she just nodded a yes and followed the blond. They skipped class. It was her 'first time in forever' that she did so. She smiled at her own little joke.

No, she didn't smile at that. She was relieved, that at last, she found some true friend. Emma was a princess in her eyes.

After getting the clothes cleaned and ready. Norma changed into them and thanked the blond once again, with a slight bow, preparing to leave.

Emma spoke up, " If you'd like, I have another copy of the books. You can have them if you want."

Norma politely rejected. She couldn't get any more favors done from the blond. 

So the brunette just asked for permission to leave. So, Emma just dropped her back at the school, due to her request.

Luckily, it was just the time when school ends. Mother wouldn't know.

Norma then made her way home, with the blank expression back on her face.

As the honest girl she was, Norma informed her mother that her books had been soaked due to her clumsiness.

Nothing much happened, she just received a few slaps, a scolding, and a stricter' schedule for a week. 

Norma just went back to her room with a sigh. But sat on her bed with a smile on her face. She got a friend!

At least she thought so...
