Lazy Fire

Lazy Fire

One day there was a huge fire all over, every where. All the people fled in terror in all directions, as it was a very violent fire engulfing all and everything.

Suddenly, a girl saw a man running towards the fire. The girl was shocked. All who saw him running towards the fire were surprised.

Whatever happened, he wouldn't stop. Moments later, people saw him pass again, this time in the same direction as the people were walking.

All could observe him coming and going, until a few people decided to ask the man about it, because it seemed a very bizarre behavior.

"What are you doing ?".

"I am going to the lake," he answered.

This Earth is my home. It fed me, it sheltered me and my family. I am very grateful for that. And I helped the Earth grow and the Earth helped me grow. I am part of this Earth and the Earth is part of me. I know i can't put out the fire, but i am sorry that i misused my rights and ignored my duties, a few, one of the most critical ones.

I paid the taxes when i was forced with jail or fine. Not only obliged but surrendered.

I stood in the queues and followed the dictates rightfully.

Unlike taxes and queues, authorities never forced me to contribute a little everyday for the Earth to avoid such fires.

On the contrary, I could not even stop many people who were high in their spirits and deliberately preparing for numerous small and big fires in small and big groups to provoke and arouse people to ignite flames and blazes; push wealthy traders to kickstart firestorms and bushfires; tycoons to flare up and explode firecrackers and illuminations repeatedly and consistently - while their preachings and sermons were being conducted; donations and blessings were gathered and distributed in the name of planting numerous Trees and raising new Forests. Every move was disguised smartly and crafted by matchsticks while breathing fire and burning the bridges by making holes in our pockets for fulfilling this burning desire.

People gathered around him and were listening attentively and patiently, without heeding to the fire and its increasing ire.

Listening to this man, it made a few people heavy in their feet to walk away from the fire but strong enough to wait and remorse about.

All were moved by the man but the next moment he started moving away from the crowd to generate some firewalls.

People seeing him doing it alone were feeling ashamed and one by one started devoting their time to douse the fire.

The man was not the first one to die while doing so. Many strived before being burnt to death one by one. Others died while running away from the fire. Many more died of shock or due to the thought of inevitable death.

The End.

Readers, do you have any responsibility to save the world or find the solutions to all problems or shall be unwillingly embracing the death, when it pokes straight into both our eyes.

May we all do our part with a sense of responsibility, and any metaphoric resemblance to any event in our country, to the mighty shakers and movers, to the filthy cronies and to the busy, ignorant, self centric citizens is purely coincidental.

Lively LIFE
