Little Ducklings

In a town, there lived a six-year-old boy Ben who was very fond of pets. His parents had a farm where they grew various types of vegetables and fruits. The boy had a horse but he couldn't say his own as either of the parents rode on the horse during weekends to the city to sell the produce of their farm to the market. Ben had a bicycle which he rode along with his parents. Many times, he pleaded with his parents for a pet but his wish was not granted. His mom thought she will have an extra responsibility to look after the pets as Ben was little to do by himself. 

Ben always made a point to help the animals in need on his way to school. Sometimes he arrives late to school. His teacher scolds him not to miss his classes as his exams were around the corner. 

On a weekend to the market, as usual, Ben was riding his cycle and mom was on the horse. Suddenly, Ben saw two ducklings playing near the riverside. It was a cute sight for him to watch these yellow fluffy ducklings. He could also see mother duck and ducklings swimming in the river. By the time he was looking at the mother duck, he could not find the little ducklings. He frantically searched all around the place he last saw them. 

His mother asked him to hurry as they are getting late for the market. Ben asked his mom to proceed with her journey. He told her he will stay there for some work to do. As his mother can't leave him alone, she asked him what he was up to. Ben explained to her about the missing ducklings. Mom knew about his constant love for animals and decided to help Ben. After a long search, Ben happened to see something yellow in the drain. First, he thought it might be a lost ball. But on closer look, he found that the ducklings have accidentally fallen into the drain. 

Ben panicked a little by seeing the ducklings in trouble. He said mom to call for assistance to bring the necessary tools required to open the grill-covered drain. In the meanwhile, Ben was trying to stop the vehicles or the passersby for help to save the ducklings that caused a traffic jam on the streets. Luckily, a man came for assistance with his tools. The man was trying his best to open the drain. All people were curious to know what was happening. In a few minutes, the man succeeded in opening the drain and letting the ducklings out.

Ben was overwhelmed with joy. He held the little ducklings closer. He slowly walked to the riverside and left the ducklings near the mother duck. The mother duck and all the ducklings swam past him. All the people present there applauded him.

The news about the little boy saving the little ducklings was flashed in all the newspapers. Ben's parents were so proud of him.

The next day, when Ben reached school, he was rewarded by the teachers for his kindness towards the ducklings.
