Our Migrant Workers

Dear Diary,

Today our Prime Minister spoke to us on the television. He extended the lockdown for nineteen more days. He said that we will be extending it till May 3rd. It was disheartening at first as again we need to stay in our houses. I wanted to go to meet my father. Not seen him for so long. Usually every week, I meet him. I want to resume my walks. I want to go and shop. I want to meet my friends. I want to go out and eat. I just want to be back to our normal days again. I was in my own thoughts throughout the day.

My thoughts kept flowing in my mind till I switched on the TV and saw the migrants in Bandra wanting to go back home. They had reached the bus stand there and were eager to reach back to their homes. They weren't prepared for the extension at all. There were so many of them. My heart went out to them. I can imagine their plight. We are in the comfort of our homes, trying out different recipes, writing, reading, playing, watching TV, etc. And here are these people stuck in different places, no jobs, no money, no proper food, no rooms, no family, etc. It was a terrible sight to see so many of them begging to reach back home. The police had to scare them away. It is not easy for them...

Please God, help our migrant brothers and sisters, ease their pain, help them reach back home. If that's not possible now, due to the lockdown, give them the patience to hold on for a few more days. Give them a proper place to stay and proper food to eat. Lessen the gap between the rich and the poor. It is seen so wide now. At least, all of them should have basic necessities. Please forgive us and take back the corona away from this world. Or give us a vaccine soon so that all of us can resume our good old days soon. This is my sincere prayer to you Lord.

I understand staying at home is for our own good. To keep the virus away from spreading. That is why we are all at home. But, our country is not well developed. We have a lot of poor people who live on their daily wages. Help them understand Oh Lord, the reason for all this is to save our lives. And it will pass soon. How do we comfort them? I really don't know. I even heard a person say that before the virus strikes him, he may die of hunger soon. What to do? How do we solve this?

Today was a very sad day to see these people struggling and yearning to reach back home :(
