"Phoenix" - The Bike

Prithviraj is pursuing a degree in automobile engineering. His father Indran, who is a constable, wanted his son to be a police officer and fulfill his dreams, but his son instead opted for the engineering course. Although he gave permission to Prithviraj to join this course, he was sad. Prithviraj knew about his father's disappointment and made a note, that he will someday whenever he gets the opportunity, do something useful for the police department.

He being studious, got a scholarship to visit a famous German manufacturing company from his Veltech College in Chennai and he could visualize his dreams coming true. He packed his bags and left for Germany. Prithviraj had a passion for bikes and the manufacturing company made bikes. Therefore, he was double excited. He used to spend hours with the workers in the manufacturing plant and a small part of them were Indians as well. This is when he wondered there are so many Indians who are working here, so talented, but why is it that we ,in India could not make world class bikes, like the Harley Davidson, BMW bikes.

This set the ball rolling and made him think of designing the world's fastest and technologically, the most cutting edge bike, which could also be given to the police department. In this way, he could at least get out of the guilt that was plaguing him, of not joining the police department. Since this was a top secret mission, he selected only the people whom he trusted the most and they also turned up to the most talented Indians. He designed the engine in such a way, that could give maximum torque and the design was one that could also put the Harley Davidson's to shame.

Once he completed the bike, he thought of giving it a name, since it was unique. He named it as "Phoenix" as he loved the mythical bird and what it stood for 'rising from its own ashes' besides he himself had a tattoo of the bird on his right shoulder beneath the collarbone.

The most dreaded Indian gangster Costello, got wind of the information, leaked out by one of the workers of the bike. Costello wanted to get his hands-on "Phoenix" which would make it even harder for the police department to catch his gang, since he will mass-produce it.

Prithviraj tested "Phoenix" for maximum speed several times, but he did not achieve it. After re-working on it repeatedly, he finally was able to reach the maximum speed achieved by any bike in the world. The blueprint of the design and the technical details were with Prithviraj. One day, when he was returning home from the manufacturing plant, he was chased by 4 to 6 heavily built men, with unkempt hair and he narrowly managed to escape them. This made him obvious to the fact that someone might be chasing him to get the details of the bike, since he overheard them, talking about this while he was hiding.

Prithviraj, at this point of time returned to Chennai and immediately informed to his father what had happened, his father suggested him to meet Mr. Aryan I.P.S, the most trusted, honest, and selfless police officer and he would be the right person to safeguard Prithviraj and use the bike.

Prithviraj met Aryan and was in awe of him, knowing what all he had achieved for the department and now knew why his father had recommended Aryan's name. Prithviraj explained to Aryan about how the bike was the fastest ever in the world. It is voice responsive, can fire bullets in the front and rear, and has a front view and rear view cameras, with in-built shield as well which is bulletproof which opens up at the click of a button.

After hearing all this Aryan was speechless and he could only stare at Prithviraj for a few minutes after which he regained his composure. Aryan congratulated Prithviraj and said that the Indian Government owed a lot to him. Prithviraj also informed Aryan that same goons came to know about his bike and were after him.

The I.P.S officer assured him that Prithviraj's security was a National concern and said that his team will follow Prithviraj like a shadow and Aryan will always be there at any given time for his help. When Aryan was leaving, he said that of all the technical brilliance in the bike, the coolest thing he liked was the in-built A.C.

Costello tried everything at his disposal to kidnap Prithviraj, but Aryan's trained men thwarted all his plans. Meanwhile, Prithviraj was pursuing his studies in Veltech College. He was a brilliant student, but also a shy person. Although all the girls came to meet him every day with lot of doubts, he would strictly clear the doubts but would never indulge in flirting of any sort with anyone, since he did not know how to flirt.

This is the time when he saw Anjali, a sweet beautiful girl, who was also very shy and would not speak to any boy in class. Since she was also very shy person, Prithviraj had an immediate connect with her and could empathize with her situation.

Although Anjali wanted to clear her doubts regarding a subject with Prithviraj, she was afraid to ask. Prithviraj came to know about this from one of the girls, and he felt this would be the chance to speak with her and start a friendship .So, one day when Prithviraj was in the park in the college and Anjali was passing that way, he mustered some courage went straight up to her.

Anjali was startled and immediately tried to avoid him, but Prithviraj stopped her and told her what he had heard from another girl. Prithviraj also promised her that he would just clear her doubts regarding the subject , and will not speak anything outside of it. So they used to meet up after and soon their subject matter was everything else other without knowing, they were falling in love, Anjali now became a person whom Prithviraj cared more than his life, and she too conveyed that she too loved him more than her life. This is when he showed Anjali the secret designs and his bike plans to her. After hearing all about the bike she said that she was so proud of him.

After a few days, while Prithviraj was waiting for his college bus, he saw a black Audi A4 car approaching and suddenly stopping before him. Out of the car came a suave, well-suited man with coolers, in his mid thirties looking stylish and introduced himself as Costello.

At this point, Prithviraj could feel a chill running down his spine.

The back door of the car opened and he could see a girl with a black zipped high heels boot, miniskirt, a sleeveless short top, a ring in the navel and coolers as well, with loose hair. This is when Costello introduced the girl as his girlfriend. Prithviraj thought that he had seen the girl somewhere and when she took her coolers off, he suddenly felt his whole world coming apart. To his utter dismay, he valued the same Anjali more than his life. Prithviraj stood there dumbstruck.

This is when Costello took out his bike plan from his car and said that Prithviraj is of no use to him now. Aryan was informed about this and he immediately asked his men to get ready for a battle, to nab Costello, dead or alive and to retrieve or destroy the plan.

Aryan and his men rounded up Costello and his men in a dilapidated, unused building and what ensued was a battle where men from both groups were injured and finally only Costello was the lone man standing in his group.

This is when Costello grabbed Anjali, and threatened to kill her. He said that Anjali was not costlier than his life. Aryan and his men hesitated and were contemplating their next move, when they suddenly heard a bullet hit Anjali's heart and she collapsed on the floor, dead. Aryan and his men turned to see from where the shot came to their shock found it was from Prithviraj's gun. The gun and a tear dropped down.
