Rantings Of A Misfit

There was this plain Jane of a girl with two little pigtails and high powered glasses always on her nose; with her eyes buried in the pages of the book & her mind lost in some fantasy.

She was the most rebellious and mischievous kid who wouldn't ever listen to anything that lacked rational explanation. She had few friends for they could never read her and she was always way ahead of her peers in thoughts and sensibilities. She felt like a misfit at school, college or the university.. even in her family. She kept looking for that missing link all her life. She gave the best to all her relationships yet she always felt incomplete. The feeling of restlessness for not being understood persisted with her.

Life wasn't very kind to her either. It weighed her down with responsibilities-something she could never ever shun. She plodded along but never really quit. She kept collecting the shells.. She soaked up every little experience of life. They shook her badly but they enriched her. She reveled in her pain at times and cringed in her joys.

In her heart of hearts she knew, she was going to rebel someday soon. She always did, when she couldn't compromise. Her fairytale was yet to be completed.

Then one fine morning she decided to stand up to all the nonsense. She did not have any road map as such. She just wanted to be a rebel. It was typical of her. She didn't know how she was going to achieve her life goals but she wouldn't die without trying.

But she was a strong girl. Her fairytale was not about a hero who would come one day and sweep her off her feet but one where she would be the heroine. Albeit the stature of a tragic heroine, but that was fine with her.

She was scared for practical reasons but she was more scared to die like a nondescript rat. She didn't hanker after wealth. It was that restlessness inside that she couldn't give vent to. She finally found a bit of solace in her creativity. The muses were kind to her and her pen started flowing freely.....

She's still struggling with the pen and paper trying to organize her thoughts- and her life too....Should you happen to read her scribbling somewhere, know- it's from the heart. Probably you wouldn't like it, for she has been a misfit all her life.
