Ravan And Ganesha

King Ravan was known for his evil deeds, and he will do anything to fulfill his wishes. Once Ravan wished to have Lord Siva's Athma Lingam and started doing Pooja for Siva. He did yagna, yaga, meditation for long time but Siva was not pleased. Ravan got frustrated and started cutting down his own heads. When he cut ninth head and he was supposed to cut tenth head Siva was pleased and came to rescue Ravan. Lord Siva asked what his wish was, Ravan answered "I need Athma Lingam". Siva was hesitated and he knew it was not possible. Ravan wants Siva to be there with him forever. Siva gave his Athma Lingam to Ravan on one condition that he should not keep Athma Lingam on the floor on the way to Lanka. Ravan said ok and started his way home.

It became sunset and it was Ravan's prayer time. So, he started searching for someone to hold Athma Lingam. He found a small boy taking care of cows. He asked that boy help to hold Athma Lingam till he finishes prayer. Tha boy was Ganesha he was in disguise. Boy replied Athma Lingam is too heavy he can't hold for longer time. Ravan told he would finish his prayer faster. Boy told he will call three times if Ravan is not coming, he will put Athma Lingam down on the earth. Ravan went and boy started calling Ravan. The boy couldn't hold it and called Ravan three times. Ravan didn't come and the boy kept it on the floor. Ravan came and saw it was on the floor and he tried so much of time to take Athma Lingam, but he couldn't take and went home sadly thinking all his prayers were wasted.

Ganesha thought Ravan didn't pray me when he was starting his Pooja so he wants to ruin his wish. Ravan was selfish that Siva should be there with him only. So his wish was not fulfilled.
