Hello! Mein name is Amber! Ich bin ein Pomeranian! You didn’t understand a word I said, did you? Of course, you didn’t, unless you are a German. Well, let me tell you what I said- “Hello, my name is Amber! I am a Pomeranian!” Now is it easy to understand? I bet it is. So how did I speak such fluent German you ask? Well, I am a German dog so it is my mother tongue. Let me tell you a little more about me.

I was a street dog in Berlin, just roaming here and there. I knew every nook and corner of that place. There were no restrictions but no family or shelter as well. I used to have a rollercoaster of emotions. But I was free unlike some other dogs of my species. Although they lived lavish and luxurious lives, they had no freedom.

One day a couple of sweet looking folks took me to a place. It felt like I was in a dog house. And I was right! I was kept in a cage. For the first time in my life, I felt suffocated. I mean we Pomeranian dogs have a life span of 12-16 years, let us live it!

I was a little dejected but not at all anxious. Not to blow my own trumpet, but a Pomeranian dog is the cutest dog in the world. I just had to spend a couple of days here. I was given food and the cage was cozy. After some days, A few dogs including me were taken to India. We travelled in a truck. I don’t know what had gotten into the driver because he was driving faster than a cheetah. Isn’t it illegal to drive at a speed beyond the speed limit? I started feeling nauseous.

When we reached India, we were shifted into a new dog house. The owners were quite sweet. I just had to live there for two days because on the third day a family came to search for the perfect pet dog. There were two kids and their parents. They described their preferences and the receptionist pointed towards me. My heart started racing. Was I going to get a family?

The family was buoyant to see me. They had a chat with the receptionist and took me to their abode. They had a blue car. The kids were lovely. Their names were Priya and Raj. I called their parents mom and dad. The family was extremely caring.

I loved living with them. Dad used to make me sit with him while he read the newspaper. And mom used to give me long, foamy baths. Raj often showed me tricks and Priya took me for long walks daily. They named be Amber, because of my tan fur.

Mom fed me dog treats every day. They were delicious. I always had the time of my life.

One month passed and they brought a new dog for Raj. It was a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Raj named him Benji. Soon Benji and I became good friends. Our lives are like a fairy tale. Do you know my favourite line in a fairy tale? Let me tell it to you. “We lived happily ever after
