The Other Side Of The Coin !

It’s a Saturday Evening. I have put my tea to boil on the stove. I move towards the balcony door to open it. A fresh evening breeze that you feel immediately after a rain. It rained for about 3 hours in the afternoon. I lean on the balcony railing, looking across the street. The bigger picture I see - Calmness everywhere. But when I dig deep, I see two siblings walking down the road. The schools were just released and this brother-sister duo was making their way home. The little girl was about 5 years old and her brother may be 6. He was carrying his bag on shoulders and hers on his head so that she can carefully move across the potholes. He was walking straight trying to balance both the bags, as a responsible elder brother, while the little girl was moving around the road, up and down the elevations in front of the houses, lightly in a dancing and enjoyable mood. I watch them move along the road till it is visible. 

This whole thing was for about 5 minutes but it made a huge impact on me. It made me think what is Happiness all about? A 60 hour work week, leaving your personal life behind till Friday and only using the weekends for the chores, watching a movie now and then and appreciating yourself on the 1st of every month to be able to manage a steady paycheck after all this sacrifice in life? No , life is not just this. It is much more than that. Why does a simple act of school going kids, which is in fact very normal, made me think so much? Am I somewhere lagging behind in living in the moment? Is this not a routine for me to observe? Did I leave behind the happiness in little things for just the 24 hours centralized AC in a huge building?

Questions too many, Answer one : "Know your value". Often we keep looking at the reverse side of the coin and get lost in numerous other stuff that does not matter much and forget that the real purpose of the coin is to show the value that it holds. How do we see that? Flip! Just keep asking yourself what makes you happy and start doing a bit of it every day. Soon you will find yourself on the real side of the coin, the one that shows its true value.
