In the court of Indra, the King of Gods, there were seven children. One fine day, they started to have an argument as to who was the greatest of all. Red explained, "Friends, it's very much clear that I'm the greatest. Watermelons, pomegranates, and apples are red in colour."

At this Orange said, "Carrots and lentils are orange so I'm the best." Green interrupted, "No way, I am the greatest. All unripe fruits are green!" Just then Blue spoke, "Look at the sky's blue colour and you will understand that I am the greatest." Indigo questioned them, "Have you seen the peacock?" Now Violet declared, "You must have seen the ripe grapes. It is clear that I am the best."

When Indra came to know about all this, he said, "You are good children. You should not fight with each other. Just be united and play. You will see that you will be greater than you are." All the children played together in the sky and made a unique combination called a beautiful rainbow.
