One day, the most beautiful rose bloomed in Sophie's garden. It was white in colour with soft fluffy petals, and it had the loveliest smell! As soon as little Sophie saw the white rose, she fell in love with it and wanted to take it to her room.

Just as she was about to pluck out the flower, a little voice yelled,

"Hey, You! What are you doing?"

Sophie stopped in surprise and looked around, there was no one to be seen. Where did the voice come from?

"You, I'm down here!" the voice shouted again. Sophie looked down and saw a tiny figure wearing colourful clothes. He looked very upset. "Who are you?" asked Sophie in wonder.

"I'm a garden gnome!" replied the little figure, proudly. "And that rose is my creation. Why are you trying to destroy it?"

"Oh no, little gnome. I loved the flower so much that I wanted to keep it in my room," cried Sophie.

The gnome's voice softened, "Is that so? Do you know that when you pluck a flower you are actually spoiling it? Flowers are best left on the plant, girl."

"I didn't know that, gnome!" said Sophie, tears in her eyes. I liked it so much... I wanted to keep it forever!"

"Good, child, since you loved the flower so much, I'll tell you what I'm going to do. I'm going to grow many more of these pretty flowers in your garden. And you can water them every day and watch them become more and more beautiful. Would you like that?"

Sophie clapped her hands in joy. "That would be lovely, good gnome!"

And soon, Sophie's garden became the prettiest one in the entire town!

Moral: Don't pluck a flower from the garden. Just be with them and smile, and they will smile back at you!
