Will you be my friend?

Will you be my friend?

It was a busy Monday afternoon. As the school bell rang, I rushed out of the classroom, to go downstairs and left my school's exit gate in a hurry. I had to catch the Rajabazar Mini or else I would have to wait for another 15 minutes for the next bus to come. Crossing the roads, stood at the pavement, waiting for the bus to come. A few people were also there waiting eagerly for the bus. Looking at the watch, saw it was 3:34 pm. The bus never delays. A question popped up in my mind. "Have I missed the bus?" I murmured to myself. Just then, by God's grace, the mini bus arrived. There was a rush of passengers on the bus and after some time, the bus continued its journey. Tired after a long wait, I was drowsy. Drowsy enough to fall asleep. Suddenly a loud sound awakened me. It was none other than the conductor asking for the money. He was quite annoyed as he had been calling me for some time.

I reached into my pocket to pay the money to the conductor. And then, a realization dawned upon me. I had left my money bag at home itself. Terrified, I told the truth to the conductor, who then started shouting and even threatened to throw me out of the bus. I had no other option but to leave the bus. As I rose and went up to the exit to leave the bus, the conductor called me back and told me to have to seat. I was still in an astonishing state and my eyes were searching for the person who might have paid the cost of the ticket. Then, I saw a girl of almost my age showing a thumbs up to me with a pleasant smile. It did not take me long to realise that it was she who paid for my ticket. I responded to her thumbs-up sign with a smile of gratitude. She saved my day. In stories I have read, the one who helps in the time of need is none other than a friend. Despite me being a stranger, she helped me out thinking of my helplessness. What more I could have asked her than to be my friend. Yes, your thought is absolutely correct. Both of us descended at the same bus stop. She just smiled at me and was about to go away when I told her- "Thanks a lot...by the way, will you be my friend?" and guess what she replied. She said surely holding my hands strongly. It was an emotion never felt before an emotion that can never ebb away like the tides in the mighty ocean.
