Past
Past
Finally, we reached a point of no return,
Digging up ugly scraps of past,
With the shovel of oversized ego,
Removing the dirt of memories,
Covering the hideous moments,
Of a selfish heart and a cruel mind,
As we broke each other,
In the hope of fixing ourselves,
And in a moment of weakness,
Found solace in each other's darkness,
Shoving the skeletons back in the closet,
We put a smile on our face,
And with saccharine words coating our tongue,
We continued to play this charade of relationship,
Afraid that loneliness would be worse,
Then a life of sham.
