Carried Away
Carried Away
I got carried away,
They showed me his face
Day after day,
They boomed his voice,
Hour after hour,
They showed me his vision,
Minute after minute
He was there,
Wherever I went,
On the roads, business facades,
In the television, radio, newspapers,
In the conversations, in the content,
Streamed through laptops and mobiles,
He was there,
In my fear of being overpowered,
By religion, by caste, by identity.
He was there,
In my insecurity of being dislodged,
From my land, my village
My family, my friends
My community, my country
He was there,
In my desire to be powerful,
With new riches, new status
New friends, new ideologies,
New dreams, new belongings
He was there,
Right in my consciousness,
To escape my karma,
To continue to depend,
To not deeply reflect,
To not take hard decisions,
It is just one life,
And be done with it,
Yes, I got carried away
