Mine
Mine
You were a paper
Everybody tore a piece of you from you
You looked happier
But then I realised it was just for show
Oh My, my friends told me things that made it obvious that they liked you
And my brother said to me, "You know he is so cool."
Your friends made it seem like you were the most handsome in school
But when you came and talked to me what came out was the truth.
And for some time I remember I had you with me
Showing me your scars telling me your story
People said whatever they liked
But this perspective that I had was mine.
You were a medal
I thought I would never win
You were the citadel
And I lived down there and never saw you looking at me
Oh My, it became a duty of mine to hide me and you
I got your letters asking me if I wanted you
And I said the girls you had been with before were way more beautiful
But then you said, "The point is that they are not like you."
And for some time I remember I had you with me.
Showing me your scars telling me your story
People said whatever they liked
But this perspective that I had was mine.
I thought I had figured you out
I thought we could live in peace now
Away from the loose lips and big mouths
I knew one day we would be found
Sinking ships are supposed to go down
At least we had holy ground.
