Conscious Companions.....Books

For the last two weeks

My mind only seeks

Peace and Power

To control my shower

Of thoughts and worries.

To get rid of these 

Was my sole aim,

I terribly looked 

Someone to tame

My emotions and

Change the game.

I felt helpless, alone;

I had none to moan with.

I tried hard, searched,

Ran, chased, and failed.

The worldly pleasures

Added to my woes, manifold.

In the end, I headed to my resort;

Not a fancy farm or villa

But my special reserve 

Of precious papers

Compiled together in books.

Yes, the books; purchased not to be read

But showcased on the designer shelf. 

I started to read, began to lose

Lost I myself in the forest of words, 

In the intricacies of written lives

I totally forgot I am a life

Full of worries. 

 Oh! how soothing 

Forgetting is a blessing,

 Losing is beneficial

Nobody teaches us these

Eternal truths of life.

I have known, books, as my

Conscious companions

My friends in need, 

A shoulder to cry on.

Reading is like taking a drug;

Books make me shrug

All the worries as terrible

But give me 

A new angle of perception

To deal with them, to face them

That's what a friend is supposed to do.
